Miasma Jester is Lizzitsky’s second EP on Gabber Eleganza’s label Never Sleep. Recorded in Uruguay, London and Venezuela using cassette, modular synths, laptop and various acoustic instruments. It takes in elements of power electronics, throwbacks to 90’s harsh noise, ambient improv, hardcore and 00’s London sub bass pressure. Several tracks were recorded in the now abandoned Elephant and Castle shopping complex, a grim goodbye to childhood spots visited with South American family. London based artist Sarah Khan (ICA New Contemporaries), collaborates on Black Phlegm, with her spoken word driving 160bpm bursts of noise, infra-bass and textured cassette melodies. Miasma Jester follows a fragmented trajectory through IDM melodies, broken dancehall, Thunderdome kicks channeled through max/msp glitches - before collapsing in on itself. Danish vocalists MC Pusher and Sgabe deliver cracked and redlined vocals over 165bpm drones and atonal string arrangements on Usenet Suic Pac, with more pensive, ambient moments via You Can’t Say Hello Without Saying Hell’s decayed 8bar grime nods and Carbroke House’s gloomy ambient dirge.
